At Bivona Child Advocacy Center, we facilitate a collaboration of professionals who specialize in child abuse. They protect, treat and counsel children and their families so the journey of healing can begin.

Our mission

The mission of Bivona Child Advocacy Center is to coordinate and provide services and support to meet the needs of child victims of sexual or physical abuse and their families at a single and safe, child-friendly facility. The Center is committed to reducing trauma, promoting accountability, fostering healing, and advocating on behalf of child victims of sexual and physical abuse.

Our vision

That every child has access to the services of a children’s advocacy center.

Bivona Summit on Child Abuse

In April 2009, we hosted our First Annual Bivona Summit on Child Abuse, featuring nationally noted child abuse expert Victor Vieth as our keynote speaker and a host of workshops and panel discussions. Contact us if you’d like to be included on next year’s invitation list.

Board Member

Diane Larter

Vice Chairperson

Diane Larter is a partner in Monroe Human Services Advisors, LLC, a consultant practice specializing in the development, implementation, evaluations and management of human services programs.

She previously served as Deputy Director for Family and Children’s Services for the Monroe County Department of Social Services for 16 years. Her scope of responsibility encompassed all aspects of public sector protective and preventive services delivery for the community’s high risk children and families.

Ms. Larter has 30 years experience in the human services field with particular focus on government mandated programs for children, youth and families. She has worked in a front line capacity; staff/planning roles and management of both small and large agencies. Previous positions held include Executive Director of the Rochester Monroe County Youth Bureau, Runaway Services Coordinator and Pins Services Coordinator for Monroe County, Probation Officer and Caseworker.

Ms. Larter received a BA in History from D’Youville College in 1964 and Masters in Public Administration from Suny Brockport in 1986. She has been active on or chaired several community organization boards and committees. The Children’s Agenda, Ronald McDonald Charities, Wilson Commencement Park, and The Wesley Community are recent involvements.
