Board Member

Vern Fleming

Vern Fleming’s love for engineering first garnered national acclaim in 1984, when he won first place in the National Tooling and Machining Contest. After earning an Associate’s Degree in Mechanical Technology and Bachelors in Business Administration he accepted his first position as a plant manager with Enbi Corporation out of Rochester.

In less than three years, Vern became the engineering manager of New Product Development for that company. He then moved on to manufacturing manager at CEN Electronics from October of 1997 to November of 1999, Vern lead improvements to the operation including cutting lead-time in half and reducing utilized inventory by 30 percent. He had accomplished this by removing waste and focusing on value added activity.

Vern was promoted to general manager in 1999 after finishing first in his class in Chlorides MBA program held at the GEC Management College in Dunchurch England.

He and his wife Tammy acquired CEN Electronics in October 2000. In the fall of 2001, CEN Electronics became Applied Energy Solutions, as the name speaks to what they do, and that is solve people’s energy problems specifically with battery charging.

With Applied Energy’s team and Vern’s guidance they are becoming recognized as the industry’s applications experts. Through their process of assessment and applying the correct charging method they have helped many companies solve internal logistic problems.

Vern’s philosphy toward business is simple, “if you can solve people’s problems and help make their operation more efficient, you can earn their business.”
