Patrick O'Flynn
Sheriff Patrick O’Flynn began his career with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office over 28 years ago, in 1976, as a deputy sheriff trainee. He was promoted to the position of a part-time deputy sheriff assigned to the Parks and Marine Patrol Unit.
He was selected to attend the Police Academy in 1978, as the sole representative from the sheriff’s office. He was promoted to the rank of sergeant in 1983 and to the rank of lieutenant in 1986. In January of 1988, Sheriff Andrew P. Meloni appointed him to the position of Undersheriff.
He was elected to the position of Sheriff and began his four-year term as the chief law enforcer of Monroe County on January 1, 2002. The Sheriff is responsible for over 1,200 sworn and civilian personnel and operates on a budget of over 100 million dollars.
Sheriff O’Flynn earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Roberts Wesleyan College.
He is Chairman of the Operating Practices Board of 911 Emergency Communications and is on the board of directors of National Center for Missing and Exloited Children (NCMEC), Lifespan and the Monroe County Sheriff’s Foundation.
Sheriff O’Flynn resides in Penfield with his wife, Lisa, and his two children, Jacqueline and Patrick Michael. He is an avid golfer and motorcycle enthusiast.
