At 7:00 pm, the 2008 ‘Champion For Children’ recipient will be announced and awarded. This is the most prestigious award the Bivona Child Advocacy Center gives to an individual in the community who volunteers his/her time and energy in support of the organization. The recipient each year has been someone who strives for excellence when serving in the best interest of children who have been victimized by abuse.
“For the last four years BCAC has honored a Champion For Children, and I am very excited to announce this year’s winner,” said BCAC Executive Director, Mary Whittier. “For the past three years, the 2008 recipient has done so much more than just volunteer; she is one of the greatest ambassadors BCAC has and is always there when needed, even at a moments notice. She is always willing to do just about anything, and has donated her time and resources to help educate the community about the services that BCAC provides,” she added.
In 2007, the Wine Tasting event raised $10,000– the goal for this year’s event is to raise over $12,000 for the BCAC. Support of the Wine Tasting gives BCAC critical funds that enable continuation of its programs.
The Bivona Child Advocacy Center utilizes a unique approach to helping abused children and their families. A child and his/her family can come to the BCAC and receive all of the necessary investigative, evaluation and treatment services at one child friendly state-of-the-art facility. In the first four years of operation, over 3,000 children have received services at the Bivona Child Advocacy Center.
