"Bald-Headed Boys" Return to Bivona Golf Tournament
ROCHESTER, NEW YORK- June 22, 2009
Painted bald heads will shine once again at the Bivona Child Advocacy Center’s Annual Golf Tournament at Midvale Country Club in Penfield on Monday, June 29.
At the event, businesses have the opportunity to purchase a volunteer’s shaved, or naturally bald, head to advertise their logo for the day. Last year 9 volunteers flaunted their promotional pates to help raise money for Bivona. The fundraising goal for this year’s event is $45,000. The tournament historically sells out each year – this year the tournament was sold out nearly one month in advance.

“Our golf tournament is a great opportunity for people to enjoy a day on the course, while doing something to help children in our community,” says Bivona Executive Director, Mary E. Whittier. “It’s always great fun and also a critical source of funding for our organization, which gives child abuse victims a safe, comfortable and caring environment to begin the healing process as quickly as possible.”
Senator Joe Robach will be on hand showing his support. Golfers include District Attorney Mike Green, representatives from Bivona’s partner agencies, and many local business owners and executives.
Registration begins at 11:00 a.m., and the tournament begins with a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m.

About Bivona Child Advocacy Center
Bivona Child Advocacy Center, a non-profit organization, is a safe, welcoming place where children who have been sexually or physically abused can begin their journey to recovery. Bivona staff facilitate an under-one-roof collaboration of social and legal agencies to protect, treat and counsel child victims and their families, and to investigate and prosecute the abusers. Bivona provides a compassionate, efficient, cost-effective infrastructure for child abuse intervention.
Bivona Child Advocacy Center is the only agency in the Greater Rochester community to provide these services. More than 1,000 children are helped at the Center each year. Although Bivona receives some government funding, the majority of its support comes from donors. Bivona Child Advocacy Center is an accredited member of the National Children’s Alliance (nca-online.org). The Bivona Child Advocacy Center has quickly become a resource to the community for all issues related to child sexual abuse. For more information, please visit www.BivonaCAC.org.
