Volunteer
The gift of your time to Bivona will be repaid many times over
The children we help carry the imprint of your kindness forever
Volunteers play a huge role at Bivona—they help with almost every aspect of our operation. Here are some of the ways you can help:
Help out at the Center
We need people skilled in: public relations, office work, computer technical support, and development. Volunteers are also needed to help with children who visit Bivona—keeping them company in the waiting room, playing games, reading books, or just chatting.
We ask you to fill out a Volunteer Application and because of the sensitive nature of our work with children, agree to a criminal background check. We cannot guarantee that you will be accepted as a volunteer.

Host your own event or initiative on behalf of Bivona
We welcome your financial support through hosting a fundraising event or initiative on behalf of Bivona Child Advocacy Center. It’s also a great way to raise awareness of child sexual abuse. We can help by providing information and a little publicity on our web site.
Let your imagination be your guide. Below are some ideas…many thanks to the wonderful people in our community who have supported us in so many ways.

First Niagara "Jeans Day"
A special thank you to the Rochester region employees of First Niagara Financial Group, Inc. for selecting Bivona to benefit from a recent "Jeans Day for Charity." Employees made voluntary donations to trade in their trousers for a day and pull out their denim.
Cobblestone Creek Charity Guild
Throughout the month of April, in conjunction with Child Abuse Prevention Month, members of Cobblestone Creek Charity Guild collected a generous amount of toys, snacks and toiletries. These much-needed items will be put to good use and appreciated by the children and families that come through our door.
In addition, throughout the summer 2009, a collection was taken from Friday Night Couples Mulligan sales. Altogether, $1,000 was raised for the Bivona Child Advocacy Center. Thank you for helping make such a difference.
Midtown Athletic Club
For the second year in a row, Midtown Athletic Club has hosted a Thanksgiving Day yoga class to benefit the Bivona Child Advocacy Center. Ninety people attended this year’s class in Midtown’s beautifully remodeled studio. Including general donations and a portion of the proceeds from the sale of a special “Thankful” shirt, an amazing $1,500 was raised. With community support like this, it’s clear we have a lot to be thankful for!
Time Warner Cable
On December 15, 2008, Bivona Child Advocacy Center had the honor of being recognized by Time Warner Cable in conjunction with their Holiday Day of Giving. A total of 12 local nonprofits were recognized for their work in the greater Rochester community, each being presented a check by Terence Rafferty, President of Western New York Division, in beautiful City Hall. It was truly a fantastic holiday celebration, complete with Christmas carolers.
Constellation Brands
In the spirit of giving, employees from the corporate office at Constellation Brands donated baskets of non-perishable food items, grocery store gift cards, small toys and books. With help from our partner agencies, 20 local families were identified to receive these gift baskets just in time for Thanksgiving. Bivona is grateful to Constellation Brands for their coordination and generosity in this donation.
Midvale Women’s Association
Many thanks to Women’s Association of Midvale Country Club in hosting their 50th Annual Fashion Show and Luncheon. The event, held on November 8, included a raffle, silent auction, luncheon and fashion show, with Patrice Walsh from 13-WHAM News acting as emcee. The fashion show and luncheon raised nearly $10,000 for Bivona, which will help us continue our mission of providing services to children who have been physically or sexually abused. Congratulations to the committee and staff for putting on such a wonderful event!
Breathe Yoga
In line with their belief in positive power of community, and with the recommendation of Bivona supporter (and Breathe yogi) Dan Walsh, Breathe Yoga in Pittsford held a Labor Day Benefit Class. The studio raised $1,300 through general donations and through sales of a special edition t-shirt.
